Can Do Cancer Receives Grant from Million Dollar Round Table Foundation

(07/14/2014)— Can Do Cancer, an Ankeny organization that provides support to Central Iowa breast cancer patients undergoing chemotherapy, received a $5,000 grant from the Million Dollar Round Table Foundation this month. The grant will be used to further the mission of Can Do Cancer, providing non-medical support to breast cancer patients including meals on treatment days, house cleaning, peer support and an informational website. Since its founding in 2012, Can Do Cancer has served nearly 50 Central Iowa patients and continues to grow.

The MDRT Foundation is the philanthropic arm of the Million Dollar Round Table, an international, independent association of nearly 36,000 life insurance and financial services professionals. The Foundation was created in 1959 to provide MDRT members with a means to give back to their communities. MDRT members can help organizations in their communities apply for and receive grants to further their missions. Through its Worldwide Grant Program, the MDRT Foundation will award nearly $1 million in grants to more than 100 charities.

Peter Hill of Vision Financial Group, an Ankeny resident and MDRT member for 18 years, assisted Can Do Cancer in obtaining the grant. He presented the check to Can Do Cancer board members on July 2nd 2014, at the Ankeny Area Chamber of Commerce.

“Thanks to the generosity of the MDRT Foundation and Peter Hill of Vision Financial Group multiple Central Iowa women actively undergoing treatment for breast cancer will be able to focus much needed time and energy on what is the most important; themselves, their families, and their recovery,” stated John Kruzich, Can Do Cancer Board Member.
